While visiting the Carfax exhibit at NADA 2015 in San Francisco, Larry Gamache, Communications Director, talked about what’s happened since starting Carfax Used Car Listings and welcoming more dealers to the Carfax Advantage™ program over the past year. During this time, millions of consumers have found the car they want and avoided the ones they don’t want by starting their used car search and viewing vehicle history reports at Carfax.com. A new nationwide ad campaign from Carfax will be showing just how simple car shopping should be.
“Dealers building trust is the challenge – and that’s where Carfax Used Car Listings and Vehicle History Reports come in,” Gamache said. US consumers appreciate disclosure – sharing information honestly, Gamache said. They do this in how they make decisions on voting and buying – rewarding those that are honest. Used car shoppers appreciate dealers who are being honest on the vehicle’s condition, warranty protection, service history, and anything else they need to know.
Honest reporting goes both ways for the dealer and the consumer in building that trust and strong relationship. It has a big impact on dealers buying used vehicles at auctions and doing trade-ins at their lots – bringing them more confidence online and on lot. “The question for the dealer might be: ‘Is there anything you want to tell me before I check the Carfax report?’” Gamache said.
About 7,000 dealers have signed up for Carfax Used Car Listings, Gamache said. As part of changes recently made on Carfax.com, more information has been added on used vehicle pricing, more vehicle photos are available for view, and other new features have been added.
Certified pre-owned vehicle sales continue to increase. Gamache says that 37 automaker brands now have CPO programs, and that Carfax has partnered with all the automakers on their CPO programs from the very beginning. “With CPO and other used car sales, working with Carfax Reports helps dealers hit ‘the sweet spot’ – right in front of customers and answer all their questions about any reported accidents and if the appropriate repair work was done,” Gamache said. “It curates the right person to the right car.”
