Ethanol Credits May Raise Gasoline Prices Further

Ethanol in the US gaso­line sup­ply is rais­ing prices at the pump and could widen the price gap between reg­u­lar and pre­mi­um gaso­line, accord­ing to ana­lysts. In an effort to meet fed­er­al renew­able fuel stan­dards, refin­ers have been trad­ing ethanol cred­its in, rais­ing cred­it prices recent­ly. The prices for these cred­its have bound­ed from pen­nies per cred­it to over $1.
