Wranglers and Tahoe SUVs Targeted for Theft in New York

SUVs are com­mon tar­gets of theft in the New York met­ro­pol­i­tan area. The vehi­cles are often unre­cov­ered, stripped down for parts and export­ed to oth­er nations. There were 2,438 SUVs stolen from Jan. 1, 2008 to June 30, 2012, with 725 of them unre­cov­ered accord­ing to the Nation­al Insur­ance Crime Bureau. The New York met­ro­pol­i­tan area is a hub of SUV theft because of its abun­dance of lux­u­ry vehi­cles.
