Dataium’s ASI Index Sees Strong Sales Month in December

Dataium’s ASI Index grew 2.38% in Decem­ber over the pre­vi­ous month, which was sig­nif­i­cant­ly larg­er than the 1.03% growth seen one year before. Dataium fore­cast­ed the US retail SAAR to be 13 mil­lion units for Decem­ber. The hol­i­day spir­it was present with con­sumers pur­su­ing year-end incen­tives, and Hur­ri­cane Sandy’s impact was seen in con­sumer replace­ment of lost vehi­cles.

US Retail SAAR Num­bers Pos­i­tive­ly Impact­ed by Hur­ri­cane Sandy:
Increas­ing November’s num­bers by as much as 300 to 400 thou­sand vehi­cles.

Index Uptick Indi­cat­ed Good Month for Automak­ers in Decem­ber:
Toy­ota, Nis­san, and oth­er OEMs start­ed year-end events ear­li­er than usu­al to attract more buy­ers.

Ford Saw Over­all Increase in Shop­ping Inten­si­ty for its Prod­ucts:
Ford F-150, Fusion, Escape, and Focus were in top 10 new vehi­cle ASI rank­ing.
