Toyota Sees Strong Automotive Shopper Engagement Despite New Recalls

Dataium released its month­ly Auto­mo­tive Shop­per Inten­si­ty report. The ASI index reversed course in Octo­ber, and reflect­ing sea­son­al trends, declined 5.78% from Sep­tem­ber. One of the more telling mar­ket trends for the month was see­ing what hap­pened to the Toy­ota brand after two major recalls were imple­ment­ed in the past few months. Shop­ping inten­si­ty around the Toy­ota brand remains at an all-time high, with the ASI rank­ing five Toy­ota mod­els: the Cam­ry, RAV4, Taco­ma, Tun­dra and Prius in the top 10 for new vehi­cles. The Toy­ota Cam­ry gained a spot from last month to rank high­est in ASI of all new vehi­cles.

Sim¬≠i¬≠lar to Sep¬≠tem¬≠ber, Octo¬≠ber intro¬≠duced many new¬≠com¬≠ers to the top ten ASI rank¬≠ing list, includ¬≠ing three lux¬≠u¬≠ry imports: Acura‚Äôs MDX and RDX along with the BMW 328i. Eric Brown, Dataium CEO stat¬≠ed, ‚ÄúImport brands con¬≠tin¬≠ue to dom¬≠i¬≠nate con¬≠sumer inter¬≠est and show no sign of weak¬≠en¬≠ing. This is reflect¬≠ed in con¬≠tin¬≠ued expan¬≠sion of their US based pro¬≠duc¬≠tion capac¬≠i¬≠ty and con¬≠sis¬≠tent release of new mod¬≠els that are attract¬≠ing new con¬≠sumers in to the mar¬≠ket.‚ÄĚ
