The Los Angeles Auto Show is starting things off this year with a media-only ride and drive emphasizing fuel efficient vehicles with advanced in-car technologies. About 25 vehicles from 12 automakers will be shown at the new Green and Advanced Technology Ride & Drive on Thursday, November 29 on city streets and closed-course demonstrations. Vehicles will represent the latest in electric, hybrid, clean diesel, and fuel cell powertrains along with driver-assist platforms with systems such as front crash mitigation, adaptive cruise control, radar-based object detection systems, blind spot monitoring, and more. The event is sponsored by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and Nielsen Automotive. On the morning of the Ride & Drive, Nielsen Automotive will announce the winner of the second annual Nielsen Automotive Green Marketer of the Year Award.
Some of the participating vehicles include: Acura ILX Hybrid; Chevrolet Volt; Fiat 500e (electric version of recently re-introduced model); Fisker Karma; Honda Fit EV; all-new 2013 Honda Civic and redesigned Accord along with the Accord Plug-in Hybrid; Mercedes-Benz GL 350 BlueTec; Mitsubishi i-MiEV; Nissan Leaf; Smart EV; Subaru Outback; Toyota all-electric RAV4, Avalon hybrid, Prius Plug-in, and the FCHV-adv, a fuel cell hybrid; and Volkswagen’s new 2013 Jetta Hybrid; Beetle TDI, and Passat TDI powered by Solazyme renewable diesel.
