Green and Advanced Technology Ride & Drive New at LA Auto Show

The Los Ange­les Auto Show is start­ing things off this year with a media-only ride and dri­ve empha­siz­ing fuel effi­cient vehi­cles with advanced in-car tech­nolo­gies. About 25 vehi­cles from 12 automak­ers will be shown at the new Green and Advanced Tech­nol­o­gy Ride & Dri­ve on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 29 on city streets and closed-course demon­stra­tions. Vehi­cles will rep­re­sent the lat­est in elec­tric, hybrid, clean diesel, and fuel cell pow­er­trains along with dri­ver-assist plat­forms with sys­tems such as front crash mit­i­ga­tion, adap­tive cruise con­trol, radar-based object detec­tion sys­tems, blind spot mon­i­tor­ing, and more. The event is spon­sored by the Alliance of Auto­mo­bile Man­u­fac­tur­ers and Nielsen Auto­mo­tive. On the morn­ing of the Ride & Dri­ve, Nielsen Auto­mo­tive will announce the win­ner of the sec­ond annu­al Nielsen Auto­mo­tive Green Mar­keter of the Year Award.

Some of the par­tic­i­pat­ing vehi­cles include: Acu­ra ILX Hybrid; Chevro­let Volt; Fiat 500e (elec­tric ver­sion of recent­ly re-intro­duced mod­el); Fisker Kar­ma; Hon­da Fit EV; all-new 2013 Hon­da Civic and redesigned Accord along with the Accord Plug-in Hybrid; Mer­cedes-Benz GL 350 BlueTec; Mit­subishi i-MiEV; Nis­san Leaf; Smart EV; Sub­aru Out­back; Toy­ota all-elec­tric RAV4, Aval­on hybrid, Prius Plug-in, and the FCHV-adv, a fuel cell hybrid; and Volkswagen’s new 2013 Jet­ta Hybrid; Bee­tle TDI, and Pas­sat TDI pow­ered by Solazyme renew­able diesel.
