Pickup Incentive War Looms

Gen­er­al Motors Co., which end­ed July with a hefty 41/2-month sup­ply of full-size trucks, may be forced to cut pro­duc­tion or boost incen­tives. That, in turn, could lead to an incen­tive war among truck com­peti­tors.

GM expects that more hous­ing starts, stronger home prices and an aging fleet of full-size pick­ups will release pent-up demand and boost truck sales.
