GM Bets on Midsize Pickup Appeal

The Detroit Bureau - May 21, 2012

General Motors will begin construction of a $380 million plant expansion in its Wentzville facility outside St Louis to accommodate production of the newly-designed Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup, a version of a truck already in production in Thailand. GM is gambling that sales for smaller pickup trucks will grow – unlike Ford that stopped production of its Ranger, a small pickup.
