CR: Gas Mileage Leading Concern for Car Buyers

Accord­ing to a Con­sumer Reports sur­vey, 37 per­cent of buy­ers said their lead­ing con­sid­er­a­tion when car shop­ping will be fuel econ­o­my. Qual­i­ty account­ed for 17 per­cent, fol­lowed by safe­ty at 16 per­cent, val­ue at 14 per­cent and per­for­mance at 6 per­cent. Jeff Bartlett, Con­sumer Reports deputy auto edi­tor: “While qual­i­ty, safe­ty and val­ue are still important…(there is) a mar­ket shift by folks seek­ing relief at the pump.”
