High Metals Prices Spur Catalytic Converter Thefts

USA Today - April 25, 2011

As prices for platinum, rhodium and palladium increase, thefts of catalytic converters rise. Thieves can cut out a converter in about 12 seconds and sell them for up to $150 at scrap yards. Lack of communication between law enforcement and recyclers makes the crime even easier.
