Israel May Be Home of First Electric Car Network

A joint venture between Renault and a private Silicon Valley entrepreneur may offer drivers the first all-electric car that is mass produced. The government of Israel is backing the plan. The partners plan to have half a million recharging stations up and operating by 2011. Many hurdles remain before the project gets off the ground. Company officials say the replacement and charging of the lithium-ion batteries should work like that of a cell phone battery.
