Ford held high hopes that reviv­ing the Tau­rus name would also revive their for­tunes in the sedan mar­ket. The effort has been a flop. Tau­rus sales in Sep­tem­ber were low­er than Ford Five Hun­dred sales were in Sep­tem­ber 2006. In an effort to turn around its weak mar­ket­ing, Ford has hired Jim Far­ley from the Lexus Divi­sion of Toy­ota. Mr. Far­ley is cred­it­ed with the suc­cess­ful launch of Toyota’s youth-ori­ent­ed Scion brand.
