Ford held high hopes that reviving the Taurus name would also revive their fortunes in the sedan market. The effort has been a flop. Taurus sales in September were lower than Ford Five Hundred sales were in September 2006. In an effort to turn around its weak marketing, Ford has hired Jim Farley from the Lexus Division of Toyota. Mr. Farley is credited with the successful launch of Toyota’s youth-oriented Scion brand.
