Late last summer Ford Motor Company announced a program to reduce the number of Ford-branded dealerships in the U.S. The goal was to help the remaining dealers be more profitable and help the automaker use marketing resources more efficiently. Ford projected a little over 200 dealers would leave in the first 16 months. By the end of 2007 the number of dealers that will be done will be approaching 300. Most dealer pleased with the way Ford has handled the program.
