C.J. O’Donnell, Lincoln’s group marketing manager, will be taking on a lead marketing role for Ford’s green vehicle lineup. O’Donnell played a key role in reinventing the Lincoln division following the demise of the Mercury brand in early 2011, and rolling out the redesigned 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedan that arrives at dealerships in November. O’Donnell will oversee marketing for the Ford C-Max Hybrid, upcoming C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid, and the 2013 Fusion Hybrid and upcoming Fusion Energi.
Ford has a lot of work to do in the green vehicle marketing arena. Sales of its Ford Focus Electric have been tiny, and the automaker is rolling out a list of hybrids and plug-in hybrids like versions of the C-Max and Fusion.
O’Donnell has been at this for a while, with sales, marketing and product development duties with Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, Mercury and Jaguar. He’s replacing Wesley Liu, who moved on to become general manager of sales in China. O’Donnell will be part of a multimedia ad campaign for the C-Max Hybrid that depicts the car beating its archrival, the Toyota Prius.
