Proposition to Require Same-Day Federal Reports of Driver Medical Results

If cer­tain leg­is­la­tion pass­es, med­ical pro­fes­sion­als would be man­dat­ed to report results of phys­i­cal exam­i­na­tions of com­mer­cial dri­vers to the fed­er­al gov­ern­ment. Last week’s Fed­er­al Motor Car­ri­er Safe­ty Admin­is­tra­tion pro­pos­al would also put an end to dri­vers bring­ing their med­ical cer­tifi­cates to their employ­ers and to state licens­ing agen­cies.
