GM and Ford Partner up to Improve Transmissions for Fuel Economy

Tra­di­tion­al­ly rivals, GM and Ford announced an arrange­ment to coor­di­nate for a project which aims to improve mul­ti­speed trans­mis­sions to improve fuel effi­cien­cy. The project is pro­ject­ed to engi­neer the next wave of expen­sive inno­va­tion, a feat that was recent­ly achieved by Chrysler. Automak­ers are cre­at­ing alliances now that were unheard of years ago to speed up the nec­es­sary R&D process.
