NTEA Member Survey Results Reflect Higher Expectations for 2013

With the work truck indus­try con­tin­u­ing its recov­ery cycle and some long-dor­mant mar­ket seg­ments, includ­ing con­struc­tion, show­ing renewed signs of activ­i­ty, many com­pa­nies are in the midst of strate­giz­ing future oper­a­tional plans. To aid in this process, the NTEA works to pro­vide resources and infor­ma­tion to help mem­bers bet­ter antic­i­pate the upcom­ing indus­try land­scape and get a feel for com­pa­ny expec­ta­tions regard­ing hir­ing, sales lev­els and busi­ness growth.

Near­ly 200 Dis­trib­u­tor and Man­u­fac­tur­er mem­bers respond­ed to a recent NTEA sur­vey inquir­ing about cur­rent busi­ness con­di­tions. The Asso­ci­a­tion has con­duct­ed this sur­vey peri­od­i­cal­ly over the past few years in order to help mem­bers stay informed of how truck equip­ment com­pa­nies are far­ing in the cur­rent mar­ket envi­ron­ment and to offer insights into over­all indus­try con­di­tions.

These sur­vey results pro­vide a snap­shot of the indus­try as well aggre­gate details on:

  • Sales lev­els and quot­ing activ­i­ty
  • Back­logs
  • Pro­duc­tion capac­i­ty
  • Employ­ment lev­els
  • Pre­dom­i­nant issues impact­ing mem­ber busi­ness­es
