Honda Partners with SolarCity to Provide Solar Power

Hon­da is get­ting into the solar busi­ness, pro­vid­ing solar pan­els to its deal­ers and to cus­tomers who want solar pow­er in their homes.

Hon­da announced a part­ner­ship with San Mateo, Calif-based SolarCi­ty Corp. to offer the instal­la­tion of solar pan­els to both car buy­ers and deal­ers.

The part­ner­ship estab­lish­es an invest­ment fund to finance $65 mil­lion in solar projects in SolarCity’s 14-state ser­vice area.

Hon­da and Acu­ra cus­tomers are eli­gi­ble for a $400 dis­count towards the instal­la­tion of a res­i­den­tial solar pow­er sys­tem.

The automak­er said the part­ner­ship is aimed at address­ing glob­al cli­mate change by reduc­ing CO2 emis­sions from home, busi­ness, and trans­porta­tion ener­gy use, as well as ener­gy sav­ings for cus­tomers.
