Detroit Free Press - February 20, 2013

Honda is getting into the solar business, providing solar panels to its dealers and to customers who want solar power in their homes.

Find out what the partnership will provide.

Honda announced a partnership with San Mateo, Calif-based SolarCity Corp. to offer the installation of solar panels to both car buyers and dealers.

The partnership establishes an investment fund to finance $65 million in solar projects in SolarCity’s 14-state service area.

Honda and Acura customers are eligible for a $400 discount towards the installation of a residential solar power system.

The automaker said the partnership is aimed at addressing global climate change by reducing CO2 emissions from home, business, and transportation energy use, as well as energy savings for customers.
