Wanx­i­ang Group received approval from the fed­eral government’s Com­mit­tee on For­eign Invest­ment in the United States to acquire most of the assets of lithium-ion bat­tery maker A123 Sys­tems. Wanx­i­ang has also said that it wants to sup­port Fisker Auto­mo­tive, a strug­gling part­ner of A123 which has used the li-ion bat­tery in its Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sports car. Fisker recently approached Wanx­i­ang, but nei­ther com­pany would comment.
