Used Car Sales Healthy in January But Pricing Stagnant, Spinella Says

Used car sales were approaching 2.3M unit market, up 4% from January 2012; Independent dealers are more than 15% ahead of their 2012 pace, and franchised dealers are ahead 14%; private party sales are down about 16% — trend started in last quarter of 2012 and should reverse course in Spring.

Camry replaced Chevy Silverado in No. 2 spot and pickup fell to 9th place.

Used Vehicle Prices Remained Stagnant at Both Retail and Wholesale:
Transaction prices down 2.73% for franchised dealers compared to January of last year.

Days’ Supply Will Be Around 49.9 Days Vs. 44.2 Days in January 2012:
Growing supply of trucks and passenger cars part of price problem.
