Ford and GM Competing at CES to Take Infotainment Lead

Both Ford Motor Co. and General Motors introduced open platform software kits at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that will enable developers to create applications for use in vehicles – as competition to lead the market in the infotainment trend. Ford’s Sync AppLink system links smartphones to the onboard infotainment system; GM’s connectivity system was developed in partnership with Panasonic and will available in late 2013 on certain 2014 models.
