Ford Has a Strong Month for Hybrid and Plug-in Sales

Novem­ber was a very sat­is­fy­ing month for Ford Motor Co. – its best ever for hybrid elec­tric vehi­cles and a strong show­ing for the launch of its Ford C-Max Ener­gi plug-in hybrid. The adver­tis­ing blitz for the C-Max hybrid and plug-in mod­els ver­sus the Toy­ota Prius seems to be pay­ing off. The 2013 C-Max Hybrid beat out its clos­est rival, the Toy­ota Prius V, with 3,182 units sold com­pared to 2,769 for the Prius V. The C-Max Ener­gi sales was approach­ing 4,400 units sold by the end of the month, a very strong month for the plug-in elec­tric vehi­cle cat­e­go­ry.

Novem­ber was also the first full month for sales of the Ford Fusion Hybrid. The Fusion ben­e­fit­ed from win­ning the 2013 Green Car of the Year award, as well. As for the C-Max hybrid, Ford did very well in sales com­pe­ti­tion, tak­ing a big step for­ward in con­quest sales, vehi­cles sold to buy­ers pre­vi­ous­ly loy­al to anoth­er brand. The Toy­ota Prius topped the com­pet­i­tive trade-in list, fol­lowed by the non-hybrid Hon­da CR-V.
