Diesel Moves a Step Closer in Ford Products

Ford plans to expand diesel engine pro­duc­tion in South Africa in order to power its new Tran­sit com­mer­cial van in global sales.

The diesel, also known as the Dura­torq, has been in strong demand because it is sold around the world in the pop­u­lar Ranger com­pact pickup. The Ranger is sold in all regions but North America.

Ford offi­cials will not dis­cuss plans to add the 3.2-liter diesel to its F-Series [but] the Power Stroke diesel will be exported to Ford’s assem­bly plant in Clay­como, MO.
