2013 Avalon Hybrid Aims High

SAE.org - June 27, 2012

It was already known that Toyota planned to offer a hybrid-electric powertrain in its 2013 Avalon, but the latest rumbles indicate that Toyota is shooting for a 40 mpg combined EPA fuel rating in the all-new D-segment sedan – first in its class to bring a full hybrid powertrain (the input-powersplit Hybrid Synergy Drive system) to the premium midsize segment. The vehicle is being EPA-tested now.
