Earthquake, Tsunami Cause Parts Shortages and Production Cuts

Wall Street Journal - March 23, 2011

The Japanese earthquake and tsunami are causing production cuts at GM, Ford, and Chrysler as well as Toyota and Honda. Only Nissan is resuming full parts and vehicle production at this time. GM’s Shreveport and Chrysler’s Windsor plant have reduced production. Parts shortages are a result of the loss of many parts companies during the recession. Overall production should not be dramatically changed, but shortages will remain for months.
