Trend to Longer Oil Change Intervals Continues

NULL

The traditional 3K-mile oil change interval has become a thing of the past for other than severe driving conditions. Manufacturers have extended intervals to take advantage of better oils and engines. Many have added computer monitored sensors to take the guesswork out of oil changes, telling drivers when the time is right. Notably, Toyota has stepped back to 5K-miles interval from 7.5K, probably in reaction to its widespread engine sludge problems and significant warranty costs.
