NHTSA Mandates Electronic Stability Control by 2012


Automak­ers, sup­pli­ers, and safe­ty advo­cates applaud the NHTSA’s pro­posed rule to make elec­tron­ic sta­bil­i­ty con­trol stan­dard on all vehi­cles sold in the US no lat­er than the 2012 mod­el year. A study by the IIHS found sta­bil­i­ty con­trol reduced the risk of sin­gle-vehi­cle rollovers involv­ing SUVs by 80%.
