A research group working with plaintiffs’ attorneys is seeking an investigation by the NHTSA into the adequacy of the Firestone tire recalls of 2000 and 2001. Firestone says they did all they could to assure recalled tires were removed from circulation; if the investigation determines Firestone’s efforts were not sufficient, further steps could be mandated.
